Have you collected several high-speed door quotes and found the prices are very different? That is normal: the same words “high-speed door” cover very different products, drives and services. Comparing only the total at the bottom of the offer is the quickest way to make the wrong purchase. Here is a practical checklist to put quotes on a level footing and choose the right supplier.

1. Comparing high-speed door quotes: is it really the same product?

First of all, check that the offers concern the same type of door:

  • roll-up (e.g. RolliGO): essential, for internal openings;
  • self-repairing (e.g. ZipGO and ZipGO 2.0): the curtain comes out of the guides on impact and resets itself;
  • stacking (e.g. VertiGO): for large, wind-exposed openings;
  • special versions for cold storage, food, ATEX or clean rooms.

An offer for a basic roll-up door cannot be compared with one for a self-repairing door: they cost different amounts because they do different things.

2. Dimensions and wind resistance

Check that everyone has quoted the same opening size and the same wind resistance class. An undersized external door costs less today, but performs poorly and wears out sooner.

3. Motor, inverter and speed

The drive and control panel make the difference in speed, number of cycles and service life. Always ask: is the motor inverter-driven? What are the opening and closing speeds? How many daily cycles is it designed for?

4. Safety devices and controls included

Photocells, safety edge, radar, remote controls, push-button panels, traffic lights: some quotes include them, others list them as options. Put them side by side and compare item by item.

5. Installation, transport and commissioning

Check whether the price includes transport, installation, electrical connection, ancillary works and commissioning. A “cheap” door with installation excluded can end up costing more than a turnkey offer.

6. Compliance and documentation

Powered industrial doors must comply with the product standard EN 13241 and come with CE marking, a declaration of performance and an operation and maintenance manual. Ask for this to be stated in the offer.

7. Service and maintenance

Who comes out if the door stops? How quickly? GLG offers an emergency call-out service and planned maintenance programmes with G Services. A supplier without local service turns every breakdown into lengthy downtime.

Table for comparing quotes

Item What to check
Type Roll-up, self-repairing, stacking, special version
Dimensions and wind Same dimensions, wind resistance class
Drive Inverter, speed, daily cycles
Safety devices and controls Included or optional
Installation Transport, installation, connections, commissioning
Documents EN 13241, CE, maintenance manual
Service Response times, planned maintenance
Warranty Duration and what it covers

Total cost, not just price

A high-speed door should be judged over its life cycle: energy saved thanks to fast opening, downtime avoided, maintenance. To better understand how the price is made up, read our guide How much does an industrial high-speed door cost?

Frequently asked questions

Why do high-speed door quotes vary so much?

Because door type, drive, safety devices, installation and included service all vary. Comparing item by item makes the differences clear.

What documents should a high-speed door have?

CE marking according to standard EN 13241, a declaration of performance and an operation and maintenance manual.

Is the cheapest door the best choice?

Only if it is suitable for the opening and the use. An undersized door breaks down more often and ends up costing more.

Can GLG review a quote I have already received?
