A new agricultural tunnel with door

In agriculture, the proper storage of equipment and hay is essential to ensure operational efficiency and greater productivity. For this reason, many farms are investing in the construction of mobile arched tunnels with stacking high-speed doors, a practical and efficient option for storing work tools and fodder.

In this specific case, we will examine the installation of an arched shed with a stacking high-speed door that we at GLG built for a farm in the Cuneo area. The company in question needed a safe and reliable storage solution for its equipment and hay, capable of protecting them from bad weather and strong gusts of wind. After a detailed analysis of the company’s needs, our R&D department proposed to the Customer the construction of a mobile arched tunnel with the following features:

• High-strength galvanised steel structure with a durable, waterproof PVC cover
• Stacking high-speed door with automatic opening mechanism, for greater ease of use
• Aeration and ventilation system to maintain the right temperature and humidity inside the covered space
• Internal LED lighting to facilitate use during night-time hours
• Customised arched structure dimensions to best meet the farm’s coverage requirements

Once the project had been approved and the contract signed, installation work began immediately at the Customer’s storage area. The first step was to prepare the ground, levelling it and removing any obstacles. Next, the galvanised steel structure was erected, anchoring the tubes to the ground with anchors and bolts.

The mobile arched cover was then fitted over the steel structure and secured with tie rods and tensioning straps to guarantee a perfect seal against the elements. The stacking high-speed door was then installed, equipped with an automatic opening system that allows quick access to the inside of the PVC arched tunnel.

Finally, the ventilation and aeration system, the internal LED lighting and the other accessories included in the project were installed for even more optimised management of the agricultural warehouse. The end result was a mobile agricultural tunnel that is highly functional and durable, able to protect equipment and hay from humidity, rain and bad weather. Thanks to the stacking high-speed door, the farm has been able to access the tunnel quickly and remove equipment and hay whenever necessary.
