High-speed doors in series to improve vehicle handling
The public transport system is a vital part of urban infrastructure, and large cities such as Rome rely on public transport to ensure the mobility of their inhabitants. To cope with the growing demand for public transport,, l’ATAC in Rome decided to install 4 rapid stacking doors in one of its bus depots.
The rapid stacking doors are designed to open and close quickly, allowing a fast and smooth flow of buses into and out of the vehicle depot. These doors are also equipped with a thermal and acoustic insulation system, which helps maintain the temperature inside the depot and reduce the noise generated by vehicles undergoing maintenance.
Theinstallation of the rapid stacking doors brought several advantages for ATAC in Rome. First of all, the speed at which the doors open and close has reduced waiting times for vehicles, increasing theefficiency of operations and the productivity of the depot. In addition, thethermal and acoustic insulation provided by the doors has improved the quality of the working environment for the mechanics responsible for maintaining the public transport vehicles.
The rapid stacking doors have also helped reduce the operating costs of ATAC in Rome. Thanks to the speed at which the doors open and close, vehicle downtime has been drastically reduced, significantly lowering repair costs and increasing vehicle availability for the public transport service.
Finally, the rapid stacking doors were designed to withstand collisions and impacts thanks to the reinforced steel bars in the curtain, reducing the risk of damage to vehicles and ensuring the safety of the staff responsible for managing the vehicles parked inside the depot area.
Logistical considerations
L’installation of high-speed doors in a bus depot can significantly reduce heat loss and the ingress of cold air from outside, improving indoor temperature control. This results in lower energy costs for heating and air-conditioning the transport depot, with consequent savings on operating costs.
