A total solution to optimise the warehouse
The process of sourcing goods is essential for any business, as an efficient and timely supply of products helps keep customers satisfied and ensure the company’s success. A loading bay is an infrastructure that can greatly improve the efficiency of the procurement process, allowing the loading and unloading of goods quickly and safely. In this article, we will explore a case study of installing a loading bay in a warehouse to optimise the stages of docking the vehicles to the industrial warehouse. The customer is a supermarket chain based in a medium-sized city in the province of Verona. The company operates a central warehouse where all the goods are stored and then distributed in the various stores. Most of the goods are delivered to the central warehouse by external suppliers. However, the customer had found some problems in the goods supply process, mainly related to the loading and unloading of products. Most of the goods were unloaded directly onto the warehouse floor. This took a long time and risked damaging the products, causing delays and financial losses. In addition, the warehouse did not have a dedicated entrance to the loading and unloading of goods, making it difficult to access trucks and slowing down the delivery process. The company needed a solution to improve the efficiency of the procurement process. The customer decided to install a loading bay complete with dock leveller and dock shelter to solve problems related to the continuous handling of products in their storage area. The installation was performed over the weekend, so as not to interrupt the normal activities of the warehouse. The dock shelter, in fact, after the intervention of our specialised technicians, has immediately started to perform its function well, ensuring that the temperature inside the warehouse was kept constant during the internal loading and unloading process to prevent any damage to the goods.

Final consideration
After the installation of the loading bay, the company Customer noted a significant improvement in the process of procurement of goods and management of its storage area. Loading and unloading of goods had become much faster and more efficient, thus reducing the waiting time of trucks and increasing the handling capacity of food products. In addition, the loading bay has also improved the safety of employees and products. As the loading and unloading of the goods took place within the loading bay, the employees were protected from any risks associated with loading and unloading the goods directly on the warehouse floor. Finally, the isothermal portal helped to prevent any damage to goods due to temperature fluctuations during the loading and unloading process.
